Reviews:

A Huge Block of Ice

Well, what can I say? It's Iced Earth, it's topnotch. You should definitely get this if you're a casual fan, die hards like me will buy it anyway. Oh, and if you think you're not missing out on anything by not having Days of Purgatory, think again. Matt singing these tunes puts a whole new spin on things. I have nothing against IE's previous singers (Night of the Stormrider got me into IE) Matt just does it better. IMO for the casual fan, get that and this and you won't be disappointed.

Holy Crap!!

This is what a greatest hits package should be. The songs flow together seamlessly, even the live ones fit right into the mix with the studio tracks. Overall a great collection of Iced Earth tunes that rock from begining to end. The only very small thing I have to complain about is the booklet that it comes with. It's so packed with stuff, it just fits into the case and I mean just fits *lol*. The band logo is also a sticker on the outer cd cover and not part of the jacket? Anyway other than that this package is worth every penny.

BUY IT NOW!!

Money problems,. jon?

jon schaffer, being one of my greatest guitar heroes, not only for his amazing riffs and lyrics, but more then all, for his artistic view, and for making his music more deep and conceptional then most people in his industry, and thats exactly why i think that havingan iced earth "best of" record is a terrible idea, especially for new listeners, who just won't get the point...

it's like reading varios chapters from different books, IE's music was allways about the concept, especially on CD's such as "night of the stormrider", "dark saga", "horror show", and "something wicked", which represents different periods in schaffer's life and different concepts which you need to get from the entire CD, and not just by listening to a few chosen songs from it...

it's not that the compilation's not good, it's just that the idea of an IE compilation is just bad...

the booklet is nice, but i don't like the idea of schaffer being described as some POP IDOL, words like "(schaffer)considered a god by many of his fans, but is, infact, very human" just pissed me off.

a true IE fan will agree with me, and young metal shirts wont, just be sure that you listen to at least 1 of the studio albums before thinking about this album, or you'll just get the whole idea of the band wrong
