Description: Is it too obvious to note that there's little peace to be found on the second volume of Ice Cube's would-be conceptual set? Throughout
The Peace Disc, Cube and guests return to the theme "Keep it gangsta"--which at least partly means projecting an image of embattled, weary, but proud warriors at every turn. While strongly produced and delivered, the songs generally don't signify much that we haven't heard before. A few party tracks ("You Can Do It") and the somewhat softhearted "Until We Rich" stand out, but there's little here really worth mentioning in the same breath as Cube classics as far afield as "It Was a Good Day" and "When I Get to Heaven."

Reviews:
Gnagsta S**T
Has to be one of the best albums ive every heard. The first ice cube album i ever bought and im hooked. This album single handedly turned me into a big cube fan.
Heard better
Not his best, After buying this (along time ago) I still cant get into it. Just something different, like he didnt spend the time that needed to be spent on this album. Ice Cube is a great rapper, just not this time.
nice comeback
I have to agree that Ice Cube hasn't put out as many good CDs as his three earlier projects (AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted, Death Certificate and Lethal Injection) but PEACE is much different. Though his lyrics are lacking, this is still a pretty good album with a couple of bangers. Everyone knows the well-known song, Hello, with his N.W.A. crew (excluding Yella and Eazy, of course). I was surprised at this track because Ice Cube totally tore N.W.A. down with his diss song, No Vaseline. Its great to see these three back at it as they were the best rap group ever to come out. The beat is alright, not a typical Dre beat you'd expect but it still works. You Ain't Got to Lie to Kick It w/ Chris Rock is also another nice track, a bit of a party banger. I like the way Ice Cube flows in this. I also like The Gutter Sh*t, it has got a mean gangsta beat and everyone shines on this. The best song on this is without a doubt Until We Rich with Krayzie Bone. To be honest, I reckon this is Ice Cube's best song and beats It Was a Good Day by a mile. The nice laid back tune is incredible and even though Ice Cube is a rough character, he still sounds good even when he's mellow. Krayzie Bone lays down a pretty good chorus bit too. You Can Do It is alright, this track really never got me moving and shouldn't have been on his Greatest Hits. Another track that I'm crazy about is Waitin Ta Hate. Most people will know EPMD's classic, So What Cha Sayin, back in '89. This song borrows the beat and Ice Cube lays down pretty harsh words that the faint ear won't enjoy. I like it because a lot of rage has been put into this track and it gets me moving. Nigga of the Century closes the album and is an alright track, don't really like the beat though.
True, Ice Cube's lyrical talent is lacking. Compare this and WAR to his earlier albums and you'll see what I'm talking about. Some people are also saying Ice Cube is running out of things to say but that isn't true, he's been in the game since the early 80's and still he brings to us good material. If you've just become an Ice Cube fan, I suggest you take a look at his earlier work to find out the true power of the Don before getting his later albums. And I'm out.
