Heart Return In Style
Heart return in style with ALIVE IN SEATTLE. This album contains explosive renditions of such classics as "Crazy On You", "Straight On", "Wild Child", and "Barracuda." There are also four terrific new songs, including "Break The Rock", and a terrific Led Zeppelin cover or two. However, I could do without the remake of Elton John's "Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters", and by ending with a whimper rather than a bang- with the reprise of "Dreamboat Annie"- they seem to have acted a bit like the stepmother in A CINDERELLA STORY towards their fans, most of whom I'm sure would have preferred that they finish with a slamming hard rocker. This is a minor quibble, as this is a wonderful album that can really be enjoyed whether you have a regular CD player or a Super Audio CD player.
Heart: Alive In Seattle (2003)
In 2002, Heart embarked on a world tour, proving that they can still tour and that they can still perform live. The summer of 2002 tour was entitled, The Alive In America Tour 2002. In 2003, Heart took their Seattle concert from their summer of 2002 tour and put it on an album, calling it, "Alive In Seattle". The album takes up two discs, where Heart performs many of their greatest hits. The album also features Heart performing eight new songs. Although, Ann cannot hit the notes as she used to do, she still has that amazing voice.
Disc One:
CRAZY ON YOU
From the album Dreamboat Annie (1976). I could not believe how amazing Ann's voice sounds on this song after all these years. Her voice still gives me chills through my body.
SISTER WILD ROSE
New song. Not bad.
THE WITCH
New song. A favorite of mine because I've always been into reading up on witches and satanism. No, I am not a Devil worshipper. I just enjoy reading up on witches and satanism, vampires and ghosts. But, a classic song.
STRAIGHT ON
From the album Dog & Butterfly (1978). I was impressed with the way they performed this.
THESE DREAMS
From the album Heart (1985). The sisters must be telepathic. They must know how much I love this song, so they included it here. They performed this perfectly.
MISTRAL WIND
From the album Dog & Butterfly (1978). Still haven't even heard the original studio recorded version.
ALONE
From the album Bad Animals (1987). Great job with performing this one.
DOG & BUTTERFLY
From the album Dog & Butterfly (1978). Not bad.
MONA LISA AND MAD HATTERS
New song. Not bad.
THE BATTLE OF EVERMORE
New song. Originally recorded by Led Zepplin, the Wilson's performed this song back in 1992 when they formed their band, The Lovemongers. They decided to perform the song as Heart.
Disc Two:
HEAVEN
New song. Not bad.
MAGIC MAN
From the album Dreamboat Annie (1976). Amazingly done.
TWO FACES OF EVE
New song. Not bad.
LOVE ALIVE
From the album Little Queen (1977). Not bad.
BREAK THE ROCK
New song. Not bad.
BARRACUDA
From the album Little Queen (1977). Still an undestroyable classic.
WILD CHILD
From the album Brigade (1990). Still one hell of a rockin' tune.
BLACK DOG
New song. Not bad.
DREAMBOAT ANNIE (Reprise)
From the album Dreamboat Annie (1976). I don't know why they would do the reprise, but they did one hell of a job with it.
This album proves that Heart still knows how to perform live. If you would like to find out for yourselves, then buy the album and you'll find out how great they still are in concert.
wonderful
The girls seem to be having a great time in Seattle, and Mistrial Wind blew my cowboy boots off, along with the Zep and Elton covers. Does it get better than this? Maybe, but I love the DVD everytime I watch it, and love the CD everytime I hit the mountains in my auto. Viva La Heart.
