Reviews:

ESSENTIAL PURCHASE !!

I've been a big Goldfinger fan since seeing the Electric Love Hogs supporting Ugly Kid Joe(!) years ago... You could tell then that they were genuine people... and they were great with the crowd (coming out for a beer at the end and signing stuff). So when it came to picking up 'Disconnection Notice' I was quite suprised that I found myself wary of what I would find... I'd read all the reviews and wasn't sure if I'd like what I'd hear....

Am I glad I took the plunge and bought it anyway! This is an essential album for ANY true Goldfinger fan (in fact ANY fan of great, honest songwriting). All of the signature Goldfinger sounds are evident, yet there is a new maturity to the lyrics... John's experiences and beliefs are clearly at the heart of this record... and it's all the better for it! As much as I like Good Charlotte and Mest.. Goldfinger are still the best at what they do... and to finish what is largely a politically charged expose of modern society with their 'trademark' humour (Stalker) shows that (in the words of the Electric Love Hogs) you have to "experience to grow". And that's exactly what Goldfinger have done.... Welcome back guys... I missed you!

simply terrible!

Having owned all goldfinger release i waited with anticipation with there newest release, but the wait proved to be worthless as this is by far there weakest release.

Im really not sure what direction the band wanted to take on this cd but its not for me.The cd starts with My everything which sounds like it was wrote in minutes then Wasted picks up the pace a bit good song a bit poppy but still the obvious standout on a poor cd.Ocean size is pretty cool with a beach vibe.Sadly after this the cd turns into a joke uncomftable sounds tired and too many nights is nothing like goldfinger has ever done before total boredom,Charlie would probably puke if he had to play this crap live.

Behind the mask is supposed to highlight animal cruelty but the first thing i done moved to the next track(very quickly)

The next three songs are very ordanary indeed then we have faith and stalker and if your not asleep or using this cd as a frisbe by then you dont own any other of goldfingers release which are a mile ahead of this stuff.

Also i have seen Goldfinger are bringing out a best of cd you can see that no songs from here are on that and it would be huge crime against if they were.

Avoid like the dive into a empty moshpit!!

The Goldfinger Debate

What I would really like is for John Feldman to read this review.

Goldfinger have been one of mine, and my wife's (yeah, I ain't no teen) favourite bands for a good few years.Since the first album infact. Unfortunately, this release sees them at their worst in my opinion. Each album, whether the tracks be Ska based or punk rock based, have been anthem like. So much melody and power. Great stuff. I was worried also about "open your eyes" which could have been stale as hell, but thanks to the comedy element, and down right fun, it made it almost as good as previous releases.

But like many reviewers have stated, pop punk, whatever you want to call it, I mean stuff like Good Charlotte, Busted, all that c!@#, well, it has polluted the sound. It is everywhere you go. This must be hard for bands like Goldfinger, vandals etc. Bands that have been around a while.

well, GF now almost fit into the above category in my opinion. John was a great song writer, but I mean COME ON!!!!

check out "faith" for example. It has to be one of the most vomit inducing things I have ever heard!!!!

As a 30 yr old, I would be embarressed to play that out loud!!

I like what Goldfinger songs stand for, being vegetarian, government etc. C'mon, anyone with half a brain must realise there is something wrong with the way things are in this world.

But I am pretty upest by this album.

Don't get me wrong, there are a couple of moments where you can sense their former glory (hence the 2 stars), but this isn't evolution. This is running out of ideas, and becoming stale.

If you are new to Goldfinger, check out ANY other album. This is polished, processed, pants. the 3 p's!!!!.

c'mon John, where is the good time vibe of "darrin's coconut ass" and the anthem like "counting the days" and the awsome cover "99 red balloons"

Have to say, unless I read an interview with John somewhere regarding this release, and promising his fans the next realease will be a return to former glory, this will be the last Goldfinger album I ever buy.

On that note though, seeing these guys play live, in different countries and years I might add, have been my greatest gigs ever. I am sure they still rock live, but If I ever heard Faith live, I think I would vomit.
