Reviews:

Im so sorry but it aint Open Road

This highly anticipated follow up was perhaps the most hyped album of the 21st century after the blockbusting success of the highly acclaimed 1997 magnum opus 'Open Road'. Tantalising glimpses of promotional materials, saw Gary teasing us with his absolute genius. When I heard this I cried so hard my face was wet. It was no open road.

Stronger than some of the other Pop stuff out there

Gary Barlow, former front man for Take That and currently in a verbal conflict with other former frontman Robbie Williams, is back with a second solo album. To say that is a good album would actually be underplaying it. It has got a decent blend of uptempo tunes and emotionaly charged ballads. The title cut is a bit of electronica with a hint of spanish guitars. "For All That You Want" (better known as Super Hero in the US) is an uplifting song about being there for someone else through thick and thin. "Arms Around Me" is upbeat and posative... quite a romantic little thumper. When he sings "Lie To Me" I felt his pain. The rest of the album is a slow collection of ballads and slow jams. "Walk" is delicously pretty and kind of sad. "Nothing Feels The Same" is a great complimentary song for Gary Barlows thick, yet nasal vocals. To me though, the standout song is the closing track. "Yesterdays Girl" is about one guy moving on with the help of a friend, the friend basically telling the heartbreaking tramp to piss off. It's long and pretty and has a bit of Irish influence within it as well. As Take That, Barlow was part of one of the few good boy bands. Solo, he is better without the confines of having to do all that crazy boy band stuff... and focusing on what he is good at. Music...

THIS MAN CAN REALLY SING

I was a fan of Take That, but since Mr. Barlow went solo, I have a greater appreciation for his voice. This man has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard on a man. The songs are awesong, romantic, fun, and you just want to listen to them over and over.
