Description: This is a flawless single-disc condensation of the three-CD
Capitol Years box featuring many of Sinatra's most famous songs of the '50s and early-'60s period he spent making masterpieces for the label. Sinatra displays at least as many emotional shadings here as there are songs on the disc; not only is there the unfettered ebullience of "I've Got the World on a String" or the desolation of "What Is This Thing Called Love?" but a riotously insouciant reading of the ostensibly heartbroken "South of the Border" and a wise interpretation by the middle-aged Sinatra of "You Make Me Feel So Young."

Reviews:
A Blue-Eyed Legend Lives On
The adored and acclaimed Frank Sinatra invites you to "fly away" with many of his classics on "The Best of the Capitol Years."
Good old blue-eyes shows himself to be the god of all lounge music on this uplifting, heart-warming LP.
Sinatra, the original heart-throb is sure to romance many young, tennage girls with dreamy tunes like "Come Fly With Me" and "I've Got You Under My Skin."
Instruments of the lounge music come alive in "I've Got The World On a String," a song giving spirit and cheer to those who are blue as well as many other wondrous hits on the album.
"Love and Marriage," a song that should be the theme of all weddings everywhere has the whimsical beat and encouraging lyrics that will persuade you to plant a smooch on your honey; familiar ingredients of Sinatra songs.
Frank Sinatra tells the story of a city girl in "The Lady Is A Tramp," with delicious words and a crisp finish of a voice like no other.
Good old blue eyes proves himself to be the master of leaving women starry-eyed and escorting couples to the dance floor, especially in songs like "I Get A Kick Out of You," with lyrics that will leave you whoozy and numb.
It's for certain. No one can sing songs of passion, love, broken hearts, and the city life as well as Frank Sinatra. He is sure to sweep you off your feet with just a moment of listing to his smooth, meant to sing love songs voice.
Great as a Starter...Could be Even Better!!!
A novice cannot really go wrong with this one.It does include several all time greats, which are on every Frank collection. Still, one wonders why second raters like "How Little We Know","South of the Border", and a few other other sugar coated pop hit types (say,"Witchcraft") were included, leaving out, say, "Here's That Rainy Day","Angel Eyes" from ONLY THE LONELY,and "Cheek to Cheek" from COME DANCE WITH ME.Or "Lonely Town" from WHERE ARE YOU.Only the former two are even on the 3-CD set. This CD barely scratches the surface, but has been for many years the one Frank CD everyone seems to have. All in all, a pretty good start, one supposes. And this "Night and Day" is a close, less known match for "I've Got You Under My Skin", and does give the new Frank fan a glimpse of his supercharged side, which the younger crowd would probably prefer.
Just enough Sinatra
If you're like me, and you enjoy Frank Sinatra, but don't feel compelled to own every record each of these songs orginally appeared on, than this is the album for you. It contains clear and crisp versions of his "greatest hits" and its just enough Sinatra for my CD collection.
