A dozen choice recordings of Sinatra with Tommy Dorsey

"I'll Be Seeing You" is a collection of highlights culled from the five-disc box set "The Song Is You," which offered up every studio recording that Frank Sinatra did with Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra (including an entire disc just of radio broadcasts). Of course, if you really like the early jazz singer Sinatra (whether or not you still have your bobby sox from way back when), then you want to seriously consider the box set. But if your appreciation of the early Sinatra is limited more to a passing interest in the Dorsey years as setting the stage for later greatness, then this is a decent collection, even if it is just a dozen tracks. Keep in mind: singing jazz was never Sinatra's forte; this album shows that his strength was in ballads at this point in her career. The title song is the best of the bunch, with "Fools Rush In," "Everything Happens to Me," and "Let's Get Away From it All." It is only because there are "only" a dozen tracks that there are one or two Sinatra-Dorsey albums out there that might be better choices. But this one is not a disappointment by any means.
