Reviews:

Great, overlooked music!

If you're into the blues, GET THIS. I bought it in Utrecht a few years ago, dirt cheap, I might add, and it's now one of my favorite all-time CDs. I had heard that Fleetwood Mac had been a blues band at one point, but since I never liked their later music, I never bothered to check out the early stuff. Most people probably assume Carlos Santana wrote "Black Magic Woman," but it's really a Peter Green song, and it's included here with a lot of equally great, or better, songs. "My Heart Beat Like a Hammer," Rattlesnake Shake," "I Loved Another Woman," Little Willie John's "Need Your Love So Bad," "Stop Messin' Around," and the best version of "Shake Your Moneymaker" I've ever heard are some of them. Even the more mellow instrumental stuff is primo. As far as blues-rock music of the late sixties goes, this bunch had it down better than any of the others. This is great music, and I can't see how anyone would regret acquiring it.

this is THE Fleetwood Mac!!!!

This version of this band COOKED!!! It would have been swell to have a few more of the cool tunes from their L.P. "Then Play On"

but perhaps that one will get remastered along with Kiln House (the first album without Peter Green) which was quite different, but still very enjoyable. The intensity in which the interplay between Peter Green and Danny Kirwan is so evident in The Green Manalishi, Rattlesnake Shake and Oh Well!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad I can finally enjoy remastered versions of this stuff!!

you guys are good but peter green is the best!

that's what bb king is supposed to have said to clapton and george harrison who were amongst the audience, at one of his london shows in the sixties!

green's solos apparently gave king the "chills"!

not unbelievable. peter green was a talent par excellence and his band members venerated him.

green was no van halen. if anything he was slower than the slowhand! but green could express more emotion/passion with one note what many axemen couldn't accomplish with many more. simply put he knew what to play when.

and his vocal prowess matches his axe slinging. he is easily one of the most distinctive emotional and passionate vocalists one will hear in rock/blues.

blackmagic woman, albatross, man of the world, need your love so bad, love that burns are all stand out tracks.

i envy those who've not heard green before - pleasure in waiting! also check out his work with john mayall : a hard road - which is musically a much superior album to the hyped up "beano" which atbest shines only in parts.

green as with other prodigies/geniuses, abandoned his music carrer only after a few years in it. he grew long nails so as to not play guitar. took up grave digging! how cool can you get?
