Description: "Hey Man, Nice Shot" may have been a fluke hit, but Filter's Richard Patrick has spent four years working on the follow-up album, mastering enough sonic variety to ensure that Filter stick around the moshpit. Programmer Brian Liesegang is gone, but Patrick continues on, picking up the slack and yielding nothing. Crowd reaction is impossible to anticipate, but at 70 minutes,
Title of Record is an exhaustive collection of hyperkinetic guitars, subliminal melodies and thunderous dynamics--which is to say, it sports plenty of hard rock aggression, but is firmly rooted in the pop experience that keeps the songs in your head. "It's Gonna Kill Me" has a stalker's vibe in its techno-metal roots, while "Take a Picture" and "Captain Bligh" are radio-friendly unit shifters that suggest that underneath the technology rests a beating, and often bruised, human heart.

Reviews:
Richard Patrick's brother was in Terminator 2
Filter is one of my favorite bands and this is probably their "best" record. I prefer "Short Bus", but honestly, "Title of Record" has better songwriting (not lyrics). I think that maybe Richard Patrick picked up some pointers from Billy Corgan when Filter toured with the Smashing Pumpkins. Filter has never been more psychedelic, spacey, or techno driven than in this album.
1.) "Sand"- Pure filler. 0/10
2.) "Welcome to the Fold"- It's probably the heaviest song. It has a lot of twists and turns to it. It has a real catchy chorus as well. 9/10
3.)"Captain Bligh"- When I said psychedelic and spacey, this is what I meant. This was my favorite song on the album for a long time. 10/10
4.) "It's Going to Kill Me"- Has a great bass line to it. It also has a good electronica sound to it. 10/10
5.) "The Best Things"- Great electronica sound to it. The beat to it is awesome. A real catchy song. 10/10
6.) "Take a Picture"- This is an incredible song. It proves that Richard Patrick is an excellent singer. 10/10
7.) "Skinny"- After songs 2-6, things slow down a bit with "Skinny". It's a good song, but pales in comparision to the other songs. 7/10
8.) "I Will Lead You"- Finally, a straight up, no frills hard rocker... well when you compare it to the other songs on the record. 10/10
9.) "Cancer"- Richard tries to pull some Skinny Puppy goth rock. It was a nice try, but I don't really buy it. It does have an awesome metal part at the end. 6/10
10.) "I'm Not the Only One"- It's sort of a more emotional song, like "Take a Picture" or "Skinny". It's good but I think it's just too long. 7/10
11.) "Miss Blue"- I don't like it. 5/10
This album is amazing
This album is much more lively than Filters previous album Short Bus, being that is was a much more darker album. "Welcome to the Fold" is probably my favorite song of all time". This is one of the few CD's that I can listen to all the way through and be completly happy with it. This album took over my life, i frickin' love it. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.
Weak, dude ...
If you really enjoy Filter, Short Bus is for you. This album is total pop. It'd go nice next to a collection of Shakira and Britney Spears albums. This album is sooooooo weak. Weak! You have been warned.
