From the suggestive series of photos in the CD's packaging to the aerobicized dance-floor workouts within, Faith Hill refuses to concede an inch of crossover dominance to Shania Twain. Except for a seductive duet with husband Tim McGraw on "Let's Make Love" and an occasional pinch of fiddle or steel guitar, there's little here to characterize Hill as a country artist. As pop, the results range from pretty ("Breathe," "Love Is a Sweet Thing") to pretty slight ("I Got My Baby," "If My Heart Had Wings") to borderline inane ("Bringing Out the Elvis," the voyeuristic twist of "The Way You Love Me"). Though Hill's version of Bruce Springsteen's "If I Should Fall Behind" is admirably understated, too much of the album substitutes surface dazzle for emotional depth.
A great artist with a beautiful and charming voice
Faith Hill is one of those artists alike Shania Twain who still know what good music is and what the word music means.
Among her records, Breathe is certainly the best and most mature album she has recorded so far.
It contains hal ballads and half catchy tracks. This special edition features 4 bonus tracks among which we find THIS KISS and LET ME LET GO, two of the best songs of her previous work : FAITH.
The song THE WAY YOU LOVE ME is simply amazing! You cannot forget it. Breathe will offer you endless hours of pure musical delight.
the song LOVE IS A SWEET THING is marvellous and youcan hear her deep warm voice expressing the feelings of love.
This album is one of the best country/pop albums I have bought so far. If you have enjoyed Shania Twain's COME ON OVER, you surely willgo for BREATHE! It is a must-have for every modern country music fan...
Just buy it and enjoy
Amazing
Breathe is one of the most refreshing albums I have heard in a long time. Faith Hill once again crosses over to pop, but also experiments with elements of R&B, soul and gospel, which all work in her favor. Her voice sounds very clear and strong and she sings with so much emotion.
The singles from this album include the mega ballad Breathe, the fun sing along type song The Way You Love Me, the romantic ballad Lets Make Love (with Tim McGraw), and If My Heart Had Wings. They have all done very well.
Other highlights include the rockin Whats In it For Me, the sweet memorable Love Is A Sweet Thing, the ballads If Im Not In Love, If I Should Fall Behind, and That's How Love Moves. As well the gospel type song There Will Come A Day is very good as well. This is the import version including 4 extra songs with remixes of This Kiss, Let Me Let Go, Breathe and The Way You Love Me.
This is the cd you want if you are looking for sentimental songs, for romance or whatever, as well there are some fun songs that will make you dance and sing along. Faith Hill has a winner on her hands here, cant wait for her next album!
Better than Cry
Of course, cry was just painfully stupid and boring. Faint hill has a very good force indeed, but this album is just a little better than cry. I only prefer 4 out of the 13 song on this album. Maybe it time that faint find a new songwriter and producer because lately i miss faint hill country music. Hey better yet, sing some country and stop singing pop/r&b, cuz i'm not wasting another buck on your painfully boring cd! Most of you on here said that breathe is an awesome song, well i got news for u, it not that good since i been listening to it over a hundred times now, even though i didn't like country back then. Let's make love is an ok song, because tim mcgraw has a great voice! it will be indeed slow song, but it easy to listen to, and i sure enjoy it! The way you love me is indeed my favorite song on this cd! Even though i have listen to it as much time as breathe, i love it due to it upbeat music that really light my day. A great song to wake up to!!!
In conclusion, i recommend getting Up! from shania twain
Not a fan of country music? Just Breathe....
Not a fan of country? Neither am I. Luckily for us that Faith Hill is not your average country singer, and her fourth album Breathe is not your normal country release. Tracks like "I Got My Baby," "The Way That You Love Me," "Bringing Out The Elvis," and "There Will Come A Day," will make you want to get up and move. On a more romantic note there are tracks like "Breathe," "If I Should Fall Behind," and my personal favorite "Let's Make Love." This is a perfect CD to either take to the gym or to cuddle up with in front of a fire. Give Faith a listen, hopefully like me you will be glad you did.
Still a hot album to this day.
Faith Hill's Breathe album is still a good album to this day. While I've heard Breathe maybe 156 times on the radio, in stores, and other places within the past 5 years, the rest of the album is quite good. I like the opening song that clocks in at 5:36, a rarity in a country genre that tends to opt for shorter songs. I like Let's Make Love with Tim McGraw, If I Should Fall Behind, If There Was a Way and others. Since he's known to do rock albums, I like that Mike Shipley helped do the mixing on this album. Anything Shipley does makes the albums sound good and he does it on Faith's. Most people dismiss this album as a pop album, but this is undoubtedly country in its themes and songs, the way Faith sings them and interprets them.
A very finely done album from her!
Very slow CD
I listened to this CD twice so far and it is ok. Aside from Faith's big hit, "Breathe" and a few other fast tracks (i.e. "Bringing out the Elvis", the majority of the CD is rather slow. I didn't think Faith's voice sounded very impressive on this CD. I think she has a wonderful voice but this CD just didn't showcase her real ability. It's the kind of CD you forget is on because it doesn't draw you in. Also, this CD is more country than her other ("Cry") so it depends on what type of music you prefer but I would recommend her other CD, "Cry" which is the complete opposite. It draws you in from the first note of the first track. But again, I am more of a pop than a country fan if I had to choose but I like the cross-over artists like Faith and Shania Twain.
