Description: Fabolous would have us believe he’s serving up Street Dreams, but the Brooklyn rapper’s sophomore effort is more likely to rock the party than shake the boulevards. The F.A.B.O.’s smooth, deadpan flow cruises over benignly commercial beats (courtesy of Clue, Just Blaze, and Kanye West, among others), and the overall effect isn’t hard enough to stand up to "official" street-issue hip-hop (think 50 Cent Is the Future or any M.O.P. release). Sure, Fabolous is not without charm. His straightforward delivery of the never-too-deep subject matter enhances slinky, slangy club joints like the Track Masters-produced "Damn" and the R&B-inflected ballads "Can’t Let You Go" and "Trade It All Part 2." The album also features solid guest appearances by Missy Elliott (the electro-funky "Sickalicious"), Mary J. Blige (a retooling of her classic "What’s the 411" entitled "My Life"), and pop princess Ashanti ("Into You"), but the entire proceedings are stolen by the aforementioned M.O.P., whose verses on "Keepin’ It Gangsta" illustrate what street is really all about. --Rebecca Levine

Reviews:

Awsum Follow Up To Ghetto Fab

Fabolous is now one of the best new rappers, him and ludacris. this album is off the hook. the only boring track is the intro. the hottest track on this is one of the bonus ones, Keepin It Gangsta (Remix)featuring Styles P, MOP, Jadakiss and Paul Kane. Throw Back is also a awsum track. So many good apearances to, Missy, Styles P, MOP, Snoop, and more. any type of rap fan should like this cause fab proves that he can spit real, like on Change Me, Change U and Respect. Awsum album, Pick It Up!

Great Album!

When I heard the song "Into You" I thought Fabolous was a friggin joke. But I decided to give him a chance, and bought this CD because of good reviews. Anyways, the album is bangin! One of the best Albums out in 2003. After listening to the album, i figured out why. The beats are off da hook, and go together perfectly with the lyrics Fabolous provides. "The Intro" is just Clue sayin Fabolous is livin the street dreams. "Not Give a F*ck" Is a hot track, which is produced by Rick Rock for Sharick and Mook Inc. Nice beat and catchy chorus also. "Damn" is a nice party song but I really don't care for it. "Call me" Another one i don't care for. the chorus sucks. "Can't Let You Go" is the best track in my opinion. Beat provided by Just Blaze, The song is sayin he can't let this other girl go even though he already has a wife. "Bad B**ch" Another great track. Nice, catchy chorus. with exceptional lyrics blend nicely for a hot track. "Why wouldn't I" is okay, not the best but Paul Cain makes a nice appearence. "Up On Things" is good but Snoop Dogg ruins it! otherwise this is really good. "Sickalicious" Is great with Missy Elliott making a great appeerence and Clue droppin a hot beat. "This is My Party" is a great club smasher with nice lyrics and catchy chorus. "Into You" has to be a joke. "Change you or Change me" is really nice, sayin if you ride for him, he'll ride for you. "Respect" is one of the best, With nice beat and he's sayin he's gonna kill someone even though he don't want to just for respect. "Forgive me Father" is okay telling his father to forgive him but look at the stuff he has. "Never Duplicated" is basically tellin the truth: he's ofteb imitated but never duplicated! Hot track! "My Life" is good track wit Mary J. Blige. "Throw Back" is a nice track wit him rappin what throback he wears in different cities. "Keepin it gangsta" is a great remix wit hot beat and blazin' chorus. "Trade it All pt. 2" is great wit P.diddy and Jagged Edge blending in wit Fabolous and nice beat to make an excellent track.
One question: why does nobody like him?

Ill Album. It's my favorite.

Street Dreams is my all time favorite album. Fabolous has ill lyrics, a dope flow, dope wordplay and a good delivery.

Not Give a **** is one of my favorite songs on the album. He lays down some very good rhymes. With lyrics like "These dudes dont stand a chance/When I pull up like the Pamper Brand/On Those Lambo Slants/....", I really thought the second verse was his best on this song.

Call Me is another good song. Who is featured on this song? Is it Ashanti? Whoever it is, she has a great voice. Fabolous spits lyrics like "Cause she's been lookin' for the kid like Bush was searchin for Bin Laden...". It's songs like this that make Fabolous my favorite rapper.

Can't Let You Go is my second favorite song. He has some dope lyrics backed up by a tremendous instrumental. I especially like the ending of this song. The video for this song was good too. I listen to this song all the time, my older brother also likes this song.

This is my Party is my favorite club banger. Once again, he lays down really good rhymes in the first verse, and the third verse. In my opinion, the second verse isn't so good.

Into You is my absolute favorite song ever. I love the video. I love the instrumental. Fabolous has dope lyrics on this song. Tamia is a really vocalist. Lines like "...with the blue so hard you think I was crippin'" really made this song good. The video is good. I hope that in the future, there will be more love songs like this and Can't Let You Go.

Overall, I think that this album is worth buying. I bought "Street Dreams" in 2005, which was a few years after it was released. I really regret buying the album now, because I love it, and I wanted to see the videos (Can't Let You Go, This is My Party, etc.) when they were on MTV and BET. Fortunately, I got to seethe videos this year on www.blastro.com. I hope Fabolous releases another album that is like this in the future. I give this album a 9/10. "Street Dreams" is one of the best albums I ever heard.

Keep up the good work Fabolous.

Pretty Hot Record

I have to admit, thus far, I haven't copped Fabolous' debut album "Ghetto Fabolous". I never saw a reason to. From what I heard of the album, Fab's rhymes were wack, his beats were unlistenable, his flow was never good and there was way too much hype. I really couldn't see what the big deal was. So when "Street Dreams" dropped I was obviously skeptical - I borrowed the record off a friend before dropping any money on it. And I have to admit, Fab's definetley upped his game. I did get the album and I wasn't dissopointed with my purchase. Fab's content will never be that deep, but that's alright for the kind of rapper he is. Throughout "Street Dreams" I didn't really mind hearing about his sex life, clothes, chains and other assetts. Overall, Fab's upped his game, and with a bit more work, he could become the kind of rapper he boasts himself to be.

Musically, it's above average and a good listen, but nothing to make a big fuss over. What you've got with this album is a handful of bad tracks and a handful of good tracks. Whilst the bad tracks are wack beyond belief, Fab's really bringing his A game to the table on cuts like "Damn", "Call Me", "Bad Bhhhh", "Up On Things", "Into You", "Change You Or Change Me", "Throw Back" and "Keepin' It Gangsta". "Change You Or Change Me" is the standout track by far - Fab's actually some real life stuff about the changes that come with being famous. This is how I like Fab, but it's a shame the boy can't make a whole album on this label.

Faboulous' "Street Dreams" is definetley a hot album and is something I still listen to a year after buying it (never thought that would happen with a Fabolous album) so it's worth checking out. 3.5 stars.

ROFL, THIS IS RAP?

This is awful, rofl, people, you guys dont understand, rap is sh*t now, all these fake artist, fake fiddy, ja fake a$$, seriosuly peeps, u gotta feel the ol gangsta music. PIck up some ol ice cube or tupac or biggie or some one who was real to tthe game no these fake for the money artists. This guy is faker then pam and's boobs and its no lie. No one comin to the game brings anything of interest. The only tru rap left is the O.G sh*T. dre, ice cube, tupac, biggie, wu etc. Gotta cop those, dont waste your money on fake artists

Worst Fabolous album out of his first 4

Fabolous, who made a huge street buzz for himself on mixtapes and cameos, delivers a bad album and not up to his standards. It is way too pop and not nearly enough street lyrics that he is so good at delivering. Has 3 real good songs some pretty good ones, most are alright, and about 4 or 5 skippable tracks. has 12 different producers on the album with 5 songs by Duro & Clue (and other notables are Just Blaze, Timbaland, and Trackmasters). Features a good amount of guests as well. Not recommended unless you like hip-POP, just downlad the few that are worth it.
