Concentrates on their early work

There are a lot of Everly Brothers collections available and, considering the number of songs this prodigious duo released, that's not surprising. This disc pays long past due attention to the Brothers' early years, which show a lot of country influence in the songs.

The big hits on the disc are All I Have to Do is Dream, Bird Dog, Devoted to You and Let It Be Me. They're all good but, give a careful listen to the solidly country Take a Message to Mary and the haunting minor harmonies of the often over-looked Oh What a Feeling.

There are a number of rather obscure songs on this collection, but that doesn't mean bad. The Everly Brothers had an incredible knack for turning mediocre material into memorable music, the kind that grows better each time it is heard. The Fabulous Style of the The Everly Brothers will do just that, grow on you until it becomes a part of you. A truly excellent album.

I just wanted to clarify for those who've read the review below, this is NOT a collection. The reason this seems to 'concentrate on their early years' is because it IS their third album. Not a greatest hits, not a retrospective, but indeed their third LP release.

That said, it is indeed a wonderful disc of music.
