Their years on Warner Brothers (1960's) were much more prolific, but for depth, only the Rhino Boxset has been readily available,
Some of the excellent records they made for their reunion, and their "comeback" era, in the 1980's, are still available on cd.
And serious fans can now look forward to the complete Everly's 1960's era recordings coming to cd this year, following the 2fers of albums from the early 1960's issued just last summer (2001).
But for the 1970's, when the brothers pursued solo careers, very little has been easily available, with the exception of this Curb cd. It features the entire content of one of Don's solo albums, and a sampling of some of Phil's excellent solo work.
As a "bridge", this collection is well worth owning, in its own right. But it is also packed with strong, well performed songs. It shows that the brothers (even as individuals) nearly always went for songs with a good melody. Don made several re-recordings of his earlier compositions, and those songs (So Sad is just one) stand up really well. "Lonely Days" by Phil is outstanding. Lucky collectors have found cds of other Everly records from the 1970's, but as these are now scarce, this Curb cd is highly recommended.
