Reviews:

A must-have for all hardcore fans!

I just love the title "White Trash Hell"! Brilliant! WTH is a small collection of B-side material from Everclear's early days, which hints at all of the promise the band had at the time of release. If memory serves me correctly, WTH was a "demo" type disc made to try and land a recording contract with Capitol records, which led to "Sparkle & Fade". No Everclear collection is complete without WTH, so (W)hat (T)he (H)ell are you waiting for? Pick up a copy today!!!

an essential recording by the band

This is Everclear's most overlooked cd. The style of music is like a mix between World of Noise and Sparkle and Fade. Unfortunately this was never released in America, so if you find it, it's an import so it's more expensive. This cd's version of "Heroin Girl" is inferior to the one of Sparkle and Fade. "Blondes" and "For Pete's Sake" are two of my favorite songs by Everclear. The lyrics are amazing, as always. If you're as big as an Everclear fan as I am, White Trash Hell is absolutely essential.

Great Album, but slightly lacking

White Trash Hell starts off with a fairly lame version of Herion Girl, but from there things start to pick up. Pacific Wonderland is an extremely good instrumantal, which is followed by two good old-style Everclear tracks. 1979 follows, but lets down the abum slightly, although the next track (for pete's sake) more than makes up for it, and I wonder why it was never put on a main album. The accoustic Fire Maple Song is probably the best version I ever heard. Overall the album is another classic Everclear album (with a couple of minor faults) with Art's usual 5-star lyrics keeping the listener mixed up in their emotions all the way through.

Lost in White Trash

Ok I read some of these pathetic reviews saying W.T.H. is not the best. Well....Everclear is the best band of all time. And if you are anything that relates to being an everclear fan I say you must own this album. It is just as good as anything else everclear does. Heroin Girl has more grunge and so does everclear. It's a MUST!

The bridge between World of Noise and Sparkle and Fade

This is an EP of songs that were recorded with original drummer Scott Cuthburt. I think these songs were recorded in 1993 or 1994, for sure after the World of Noise songs were recorded.

This collection starts off with Heroin Girl, an earlier recording of the song from Sparkle and Fade. Then Pacific Wonderland, a surf instrumental that Everclear has been playing on their 2003 tour. Blondes and Detriot are ok songs, but 1975 is great. It's heavy and features dirty screaming guitars. For Pete's Sake is another great one from this collection. It's a song about someone who's mad at you for winning the girl. True story, too. Finally an acoustic version of Fire Maple Song with current drummer Greg Eklund closes the disc. This song has always been a fan favorite, but this acoustic version will make you want to cry.

This disc is very interesting and very enjoyable most of the way. I'd recommend it to hardcore Everclear fans only and to all those who love World of Noise and Sparkle and Fade. If you want the rock side of Everclear, here it is!

This is a Hella Good B-Side Compilation

This is a great little B-Side Compilation from Everclear, as we get a strange early version of 'Heroin Girl', a surf instrumental 'Pacific Wonderland', an ass kicking '1979', and the beautiful gem of the album, 'Fire Maple Song' acoustic. I forked out a staggering $18 for this little fella, but for an Everclear enthusiast, it's worth it. I highly suggest for the World of Noise/Sparkle and Fade Everclear fan.
