Description: Upon her 1999 debut release, Eve Jeffers described herself as "a pit bull in a skirt," but each of her subsequent albums have allowed hip-hop's favorite bombshell to successfully upgrade her image. At this point in her career, Eve is reppin' for the smart and stylish urban female on the go. Graced with witty lyrics (for the most part penned by Ms. Jeffers herself) and just-commercial-enough music,
Eve-olution allows the Philly rapper's strong personality and considerable mic skills to shine. The radio-friendly "Gangsta Lovin'" (with the always-buoyant Alicia Keys handling hook duty) and the flirtatious banter of "Figure You Out" (a duet with the up-and-coming rapper-producer, Teflon) underscore the fact that this girl's got game and doesn't care who knows it. Eve's hardcore side is nicely showcased on such tunes as "Ryde Away" (produced by the consistently brilliant Bink) and "Double R What," which features her fellow Ruff Ryders, Jadakiss and Styles of the Lox.

Quite an eveolution...
Eve may come off a little full of herself. Her self description as a "Pitbull in a skirt" could seem a little self righteous...
Eve is anything but.
What a way to start the album with "What" which features Truth Hurts with her own set of husky, yet smooth vocals complimenting Eve's somewhat angry rhymes. Then the mega hit "Gangsta Lovin'" with alicia Keys (which stirred rumors of bisexuality) comes on and it seems to fit right in. "irresistable Chick" keeps the up-tempo route going and brings to mind a female version of Prince. "Party In The Rain" is a party all its own and it is a well done rap number. Eve continues to show her power chops with her Rhymes on songs that have some sort of porpose as well. "Let This Go" is about knowing when to cut the ties and move on and "As I Grow" is a song that actually has some important elements the youth need to listen too. Add in some pretty silly skits that feature Cedric and a skit that is hilarious as a guy and gal argue about Eve's hood cred, and this album measures up as solid entertainment. Even at some points it can be considered art... too!
Trendy and Industrialized
Eve raps about the same things her other albums contain. There's nothing new! It's too industry, and a lot of it's material is ghostwritten by others.
Eve's rap flow is no different that Trina's. With the exception that Trina has a more "FEMENINE" voice. While Eve has a more "MASCULINE" voice. They both sound the same. "Irrisistable Chick" only confirms that she attempted to emmulate Trina.
Regardless of the credit Eve recieves from critics and fans. Her music really isn't that good. It's mediocore to say the least. This album only confirms it. Better luck next time.
