Description: The
Daredevil soundtrack provided a nice boost for this previously unknown quartet from Little Rock, Arkansas. Evanescences songs "My Immortal" and the imposing "Bring Me to Life" are clear standouts in the film, mainly because they work so well with the dramatic, eerie undertones of the storyline. They reappear here on the bands debut, alongside a selection of similarly brooding tracks that evoke pensive artists like Tori Amos and the Cranberries. Vocalist Amy Lee has the kind of voice that can cause weeks of insomnia, but on songs like "Tourniquet" and "Haunted" she belies the musics sinister mood with evenhanded spirituality, thoughtfully letting some light shine through the tempest.

Reviews:
excellent start
Evanescence uses a forumla that works really well on this CD. Amy Lee's high soprano operatic vocals over catchy guitar hooks and smooth melodies about pain and anger are displayed throughout this CD. I do think that Origin displayed more musical diversity when it came to songwriting for evanescence but this album was polished to reach out to a target audience, and I'm sure their follow up album will display more of their songwriting and musical composition skills. The videos from the album are really well done and having meaningful messages, they will continue to make great music videos in the future too I hope.
finally a real female singer.....
i don't know about the rest of america, but (no offense to the singers) i am tired of the poppy-lets-go-ride-a-magic-carpet voices that america's teen singers are portraying and endorsing. When I heard this bands first released single "Bring Me To Life" on FUSEtv I was slightly amazed and intrigued by Amy Lee's apparent passion and talent for the vocals. Her band as well, surprised me by there enormous talent and love for the music. While others might say in the present days they have "sold out" i could not disagree more with them. If they want to see a REAL sellout I would love to direct them to Mrs. Spears and Ms. Aquilera. I am very sorry if this offends any of todays artists but I am using my right to an opion. Now let me critique the playlist:
Going Under: An amazing ballad, full of real emotion and haunting lyrics. One of my favorite on the cd. 4.5/5
Bring Me To Life: The first single, tedious at times, but a great reminder of their beginning 3.5/5
Everybody's Fool: My favorite song on the cd. The lyrics are truthful and do not over-exagerate in the least. Amy's range is amazing and the band does an amazing job 5/5
My Immortal: Loved it when it was first released, now I am a bit tired of it. I highly recommend the new version on their new cd "Anywhere But Home" 3/5
Haunted: This song is quite odd to me, but nonetheless a nice song 3.5/5
Tourniquet: I believe Christians around the world will agree that this song spoke to them. I remember lying on my bed, my iPod blaring this song and I looked up and felt a total peace.. Amy's range in this song is mind boggling 4/5
Imaginary: my least favorite song 2/5
Taking Over Me: this is the second best song on the album! The drums are amazing as is the bass solo. They lyrics ring true to any one in a broken relationship. 4.5/5
Hello: Amys voice is positively haunting in this song, made the hairs on my back stand straight up. 3.5/5
My Last Breath: This song is a pretty average song. Very Middle of the road. But i like it nonetheless. 3.8/5
Whisper: I honestly could not recognize many of Amy's lyrics which was very dissapointing but I loved the rhythm and tempo. What Amy's clarity was lacking the band made up for. 3.8/5
All in All this is simply the best cd I have purchased in a long while. I highly recommend if you like even one song your invest in the whole album. VERY worth your while. Thank you for your time.
more perfect then it should be
Evanescence first hit me with the "not so brilliant" movie of daredevil;and today whenever they say this blind hero's name; i feel so thankfull to him for letting me meet evanescence.
Unfortunetely;Evanescence's Fallen became too famous then they should be.They are a gothic rock band for gods sake;what the hell are they doing among Britney,christina,50 cent and all those other craps from Mtv???
And there it is;i said the only possible thing that i can say about this album;and it it that it is too friendly, too easy to listen that even kids are singing evanescence songs;which are actually full of sorrow and shouldnt be so popular.
Amy Lee is possibly the greatest voice this world has ever heard.Ý am not saying her voice is the most talented or strong one;she obviously has so much to go;but for gods sake;this cant be the voice of a human! From the angry tunes of going under,to a desperate final help call to god in Tourniquet;from the depths of Amy's personal depression of Hello;to the theme of a final facing with death itself in Whisper;Amy's voice takes you up to heavens;where the voice itself belongs;and shows every single emotion lying in her heart from that respective.
Which is why i cant take such a deep band to be so popular. The album is nothing but perfect;i cant find any other ways to tell it cos it made nearly everyone happy;the band, the producers, the real listeners, the boyband lover girls, the kids, everyone.Next time;i'm sure Amy Lee;(and sorry for not mentioning them, every other member of the band;who are as talented as the vocalist herself)will not try to be so perfect,so radio friendly,so "pop"
next time and give her talent to music history and devoted fans, not to everyone..Untill then; i have to share one of the best bands the world has ever seen with the rest of the world..
