Badu offers the true meaning of ?Something Different?

My biggest complaint in "radio" music is that it all sounds the same and all are trying to out do each other doing the same BS. Erykah Badu is the definition of something beautifully different. This CD should be in everybody collection by now. The new, now boldly bald Badu has shook up the music game once again with a soulful masterpiece. Her performance of "Penitentiary Philosophy" on a late night talk show gave me a new love for the song. Before, I usually skipped over it. This is my second copy of this CD. I had to have the import version with the "Bag Lady" remix. It took a minute for me to get a fill for every track, but now it's one of my most rotated joints. Badu continues to accomplish what Jay-Z could only dream of. "changing the game" When I write and plead in my other reviews about doing something different, Badu did that and more. Much, much love to this Goddess and thanks for hearing my screams for something different.

if you don't love this album...

...you are insipid. i know it's harsh, but i've noticed that this album went over mad folk's heads. this album is just too brilliant for this earth. don't hate if you don't love it: that's cuz you just don't get it. erykah, you tore it all up with this one girl.

It's '05 and I still listen

A severely underrated album. If you like to sit in a dim room and listen to music that can help you relive 20 years of experiences, get this immediately. It has a Jill Scott vibe without the political rhetoric you would tend to expect from Erykah's ideological background. Very romantic, funny at times, but overall, downright quality musicianship. One of the best albums in the neo-soul genre.

It's a journey!!!

This CD captures the inner workings of Ms.Badu's mind, the CD flows like a woman thought process. Her mind and soul seem to be in a different place then they were in her first CD Baduism,there for so is her music. It goes from expressions of love for her son to expression of love lost, and then to expressions of self worth and independence. I appreciate it for what it is, a work that takes you on journey thought emotional s*** (good and bad), and leaves you with a new understanding of love and, life in general in the end.
