Description: If you're looking for that perfect slow hand CD to carry around in the car, Time Pieces is the disc for you. Featuring 11 of Clapton's most radio-friendly hits ("I Shot the Sheriff," "After Midnight," and "Layla," of course), this CD also offers up some of Clapton's most romantic moments in "Wonderful Tonight" and his most cynical in "Promises." Though there's nothing here that you don't have on another couple of discs, Time Pieces is a convenient package of great hits that make you want to roll down the windows, crank up the stereo, and roll. --L.A. Smith

Reviews:

"You Look Wonderful TO-NIGHT!"

Eric Clapton is a cornerstone of Rock Music. Along with Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Elton John, there are not many more Greats at the top of this game. The eternal love anthem "Wonderful Tonight" remains one of the most requested "slow dance" songs of all time. Clapton's rendition of the Bob Marley penned "I Shot The Sheriff" shot to the top of the US Charts. This CD has the essentials of Eric Clapton's 1970's work. The unmistakable guitar solos are part of the many reasons why this CD belongs into any Rock fan's collection. This is likely one of 10 CDs you may take along to Gilligan's Island. I can recommend this CD without reservations.*****

Good but somewhat obsolete

This used to be a pretty good compilation, but time has sort of passed it by, and the fact that "Timepieces" only contains songs from Eric Clapton's seventies releases (and only eleven of them at that) means that it really can't match newer releases such as "The Cream Of Clapton", or indeed the excellent retrospective "Crossroads".

Besides, some of Clapton's best early songs, including "Blues Power" and "Bell Bottom Blues", are missing, making "Timepieces" a less than ideal overview of the early years of Eric Clapton's solo career. Those who are looking for a way to get out of buying all of Clapton's 70s albums would be better served by "The Cream Of Clapton", which covers 1966-1981, and the gritty live "Eric Clapton's Rainbow Concert".

This cd rocks

Eric Clapton is the best!! I remember my fiance' dedicated "wonderful tonite" to me at my prom. So everytime that song cmes on, he sings it to me.
