Reviews:

Another Wonderful CD

You can really feel the emotion from some of Erasure's songs.I love this album.Grace,Sono Luminus and Fingers and thumbs are my favs.I was really impressed with this Cd.

Dunno if I can top Larry's review but...

I must say this is my favorite album of all-time just nudging past Erasure's "I Say I Say I Say."

What makes this album so great, and every Erasure album, is that Andy and Vince complement each other so well. It is easy to get lost in the layered synths or the emotion in Andy's voice. When Erasure are on, like they are here, you're getting lost in both of them at the same time.

"Erasure" is the best album because it is Erasure doing what they want to do. The numerous tracks over 5 minutes gives Vince time to add in more catchy bleeps and bloops in classic Erasure form as seen in Rescue Me and Fingers and Thumbs(A Cold Summer's Day). The length of the songs also gives Andy time to sing some deep songs painting a more clear and thus more emotional picture of the song he wants to get out. Good examples for that can be seen in Sono Luminus and I Love You. The length of the songs enhances the usual Erasure mood through their music and paints a clearer picture through more (emotional) lyrics.

While I enjoy all of Erasure's album, I really felt their freedom on "Erasure" to take their time with their songs really enhances what they want to say. It is a shame they haven't repeated the length of these tracks on album's released after. However their October 2004 album "Nightbird" may bring back the level of depth as "Erasure" showed.

And forget the reviewer who says the lyrics are too cliche. Erasure has a message, one only need listen to Grace, Sono Luminus or A Long Goodbye to see how deep and thoughful these lyrics are.

If you want to listen to an album that will play with your emotions there is no better one than Erasure's "Erasure" because Vince's synths & Andy's voice and lyrics are emotion charged and most importantly at length. There is time for the songs to grow and your emotions to stir.

Not their best.

There are 2 things I don't like about this cd. 1) Too many ballads, and 2) the songs are too long. Although the ballads are beautiful, I expect more faster-paced songs from Erasure than just 1 (Fingers & Thumbs). Then I get frustrated when some of these great songs just keep going on and on, like "Rock Me Gently".
