Chorus-what a nice opener this was. The great opening rift really introduces this album. Great vocals even if it's kind of a funny song lyrically.
Waiting for the Day-ok I admit most of their albums have a couple of clunkers and if I had to pick one off Chorus this is it. Its average Erasure which is good just not outstanding. album track for sure!
Joan-I like this song because Andy really jamns when he sings this and its got some funky tunes. A decent track.
Breath of Life-Simply put my favorite Erasure song ever! The music, the vocals, the lyrics...this is nothing short of brilliant! If you don't like this track, tell me why because there is nothing but sheer and utter genius at work here!
Am I Right?-a sweet beautiful ballad from Andy and Vince and total deserving of being a single.
Love to Hate You-a completely wonderful jamin tune. I love this song and remains a fan favorite for a reason. It simply works!
Turns the Love to Anger-a fairly standard album track from the boys. Nice job overall!
Siren Song-2nd favorite track from this album. Haunting lyrics, haunting vocals, beautiful music. Andy and Vince did a great job on this! Try to feel the splendor of it all!
Perfec Stranger-a great little song from the boys and album track but might have worked as a single.
Home-a great GREAT song! Its really hard to rate individual tracks like this but this is definitely a nice closure to the album. Great tune.
Chorus is an album that works. The outstanding tracks are just so brilliant that they completely cover up any weakness some of the standard album tracks may have. It's a short album that goes by quickly but definitely deserves a repeat all button. Great stuff from the boys!
I have every Erasure song ever released commercially, and this is, in my opinion, their best album. Other albums may have stronger singles-it is hard to beat the one-two punch of Drama and Blue Savannah, or Chains of Love and A Little Respect, but this was the first Erasure CD that didn't feel like a collection of singles and b-sides. There are no real weak spots here as on previous efforts. There were four singles taken from this album, and if one didn't know what they were, I think one would be hard pressed to identify them. "Waiting for the Day" is the best Erasure single that never was, and "Turns the Love to Anger" and "Perfect Stranger" are fantastic synthpop songs. It is true, perhaps, that this album may seem darker than others, but the production is gorgeous, the songs are brilliant, Andy Bell's voice has never sounded so rich, and Vince Clark's aural landscape is breathtaking. One of my all-time favorite records.
