Reviews:

Andy Bell has a voice that is emotionally intoxicating....

Andy Bell is my second favourite male vocalist of all time after Roy Orbison. Both singers have voices that make you feel with only one note that you are transported to a higher plane where angels and gods play. Abba's songs and style of music haven't aged by transcending time and space to endure strongly in the present. You listen to Chiquitita or Fernando or SOS and the emotion still resonates as it did the first time you heard it. Erasure's version of SOS is in my top 5 favourite songs of all time. He is a true singer and talent with no need for computers or tweaking that all the forgeries and frauds of the last 20 years would be nothing without. He has a great range and hearing his voice again and again through the overdubs is heaven to my ears. His emotional range is comparable to Annie Lennox or kd lang. When I listen to him singing, i feel exactly what the words are trying to convey, he can only be eclipsed by Roy Orbison singing The Crowd or It's Over; both songs that leave you breathless. Take A Chance On Me is not bad and Voulez Vous is average. Lay All Your Love On Me is the one i skip. I am a huge fan of electronica and techno. It is amazing that emotion can be conveyed with computers. So Erasure has the perfect balance of technology and true musical harmony in Bell's voice. Another great combination of electronica and great singing ability is the Dutch DJ ATB or 4 Strings. I highly recommend both for the lover of electronic music and harmonious vocals.

The Only Band Capable of Such a Feat

Erasure "Abba-esque" is brilliant in both its musicianship and its irony. Covering ABBA is a dangerous and potentially sacrilegious undertaking, but Erasure pulls it off magnificently. There is probably no other band with the personality, character, style, and creativity to make this EP.

Admittedly, I am a long-time fan of both bands, but it is hard for me to imagine that this coverlette could disappoint fans of either (or both) bands. Retaining the mood and sound of the originals, Erasure brings perhaps even more melodrama, tragedy, and celebration than ABBA did the first time around.

All 4 tracks are brilliant. How could you not love this??

WEBER HIGH SCHOOL IN CHICAGO PROMOTED THIS ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!

Why Erasure came to the now closed Arichbishop Joseph Weber High School in Chicago in November of 1992 to promote this album or EP! I remember being there and hearing "Take A Chance On Me" playing in the halls and who do I see but Andy Bell singing it LIVE!!!!!! It was a benefit concert to help fund to help the music department! Thanks to John Cryder, director of music at Weber at the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cryder had been a great fan of Abba!!!!!! Thanks Erasure!!!! The band that really cared about WEBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
