Description: As each new Enya release has washed over all who have ears to hear, as each heaven-touched work leaves admirers sitting speechless in slack-jawed wonder, questions eventually come to mind: Might her layered, choral-like approach gradually become predictable or stale? Will she ever exhaust her deep reservoir of soul-stirring ideas? Remarkably,
A Day Without Rain, Enya's fourth release since her 1988 breakthrough,
Watermark, establishes new artistic heights for the gifted Irish vocalist and keyboardist. The project, polished and refined over a five-year period in the company of longtime collaborators Nicky Ryan (producer) and Roma Ryan (lyricist), may qualify as her best yet--a radiant, beatific collection of works that command attention with their cathedral-like resonance as they soothe your spirit with some of Enya's loveliest, most graceful voicings ever. The disc's opening three tracks (including the spellbinding "Only Time") form a gorgeous trilogy that suggest Enya has deepened her focus on the nexus where sophisticated pop and regal mysticism, the twin rivers of her singular sound, form a seamless intersection. The disc's gentle timbre is disturbed only once, and in memorable fashion, with "Tempus Vernum," a marshalling of mythic sonic forces that brings to mind the theme from the De Beers diamond commercial, but with a Celtic/Goth edge. Additional highlights abound. The closing "Lazy Days" will leave your soul dancing in a shower of flower petals and sunshine. A wonderful recording.

Reviews:
Magnificient
After Sept. 11, I heard that everyone was getting this CD. I was wondering what was so special about it until I heard it. I thought that this CD was great, uplifting, and well just great. I knew God/ddess knew that people were going to need something to rejuvanate them and that's why this CD was made. The only problem is that two songs aren't as uplifting as the rest, that is 4 and 5. It sounds like it predicted that Sept. 11 would happen and I didn't like that. Well, the only other thing I like to mention is that this CD is not short, it has 12 songs in them. I don't think a CD has to have 16 or more songs to be known as long.
Perfect in every way!
I am a big fan of enya's music. When i got this CD i was very excited. Enya's music no matter what cd it is it will put a smile on your face. The songs on this CD are very cool. My favorites are
6.flora's secret
8.silver inches
7.fallen embers
10. one by one and pilgrim(number 9).
enya's music is both lovely and peaceful. Very good for going to sleep at night. Wild child is cool too. It is very upbeat and cheerful. Enya is very cool and I can't wait till she comes out with another. GO ENYA!
Same as all her other albums
In 1988, it seemed like all this hype was being placed on this new vocalist from Ireland. Cool, calming, relaxing pseudo-New Age music for the masses. Multi-layered vocals over lush orchestration. That album was called WATERMARK, and it seemed like it was a landmark album at that time. Fast-forward to 2001, and anyone who has heard every other album released by Enya can give the same assessment of it. Never one to break ground on a new release, Enya continues to rehash the same formula on each of her albums, and this one is no exception. Why the public continues to buy them in mass quantities amazes me. All you ever have to do is buy one Enya album in your life, and you pretty much have her whole catalogue. What's even worse about this album is how everyone used it to "heal" themselves after September 11th. Enya and her record company were the only ones better off for it. Enya is a talented artist with a beautiful voice, but it's time for her to stop releasing the same album over and over again.
