Description: In the '60s Elvis made 27 movies, many interchangeable, but each had a built-in excuse for him to release a soundtrack. Individually they fail to advance the legend, but when the best of each is collected in one place, as here, the results are very rewarding. This two-CD set has 62 tracks, which makes it, for lack of a better word, essential. Much of it sounds fairly na(ve now, but that's only part of the inherent charm. The personality that Presley infuses into each track is incredible, and gives the listener an idea of why he earned the nickname "The King." --

Command Performances, a hit or miss album?
Well many people seem to rave about The command performances. That's fine and dandy if you want a few Elvis movie songs but the discretion put out by Elvis Presley Enterprises and The Boys and Girls back at BMG have seem to led new elvis fans a stray and die-hard elvis fans upset. First off what is up with four songs from G.I. Blues and who decided that Doin' The Best I Can should be on there. Flaming Star has two songs and you really could only really put one on your precious little CD. The Wild In The Country songs why in the world would you put "Lonely Man on the CD when it isn't even in the movie. A better idea would have been either "I Slipped, I Stumbled, I Fell'" or "In My Way". Five songs in Blue Hawaii. Why is "Beach Boy Blues is on their but "Slicin Sand" or "Ku-Iu -Po". Follow That Dream has the Alternate Take 2 , Why the original version has more spice anyway? Angel over the other three is questionable. Kid galahad only has two which could have been better but it really hurts. Girls! Girls! Girls! has 15 songs yet you put a mesley 3 songs. Three songs from It Happened At The World's Fair is a dissapointment. Fun In Aculpaco had 4 songs which could have been better by far. Kissin Cousins is nice but should have been better. Viva Las vegas has two good songs. I personally think Viva Las Vegas was his best movie partly due to the songs and they put a short two on their and I have just as many gripes on the second cd. The three good things about this CD is you get a little bit from each movie except Tickle Me which the complete soundtrack scattered out throughout the 60's Essential I. It has a nice book and it is a great sampler but if you're looking for a complete or almost complete. If I had the chance I would have made it a Five CD set like the other three instead, of just two.
