Description: It's the most complete single-disc collection of EWF chart rockers, and Greatest Hits' splendid remastering makes one of the major exponents of '70s funk positivity sound sparkling. From the driving "Shining Star" to the syncopated mastery of "September" and "Boogie Wonderland" to the slow-jam heaven of "After the Love Is Gone," this is a reminder of what made the group so special. --Rickey Wright

Reviews:

AWSOME!

Allright!! I've heard the samples but this is the disc I highly reccomend!! I just ordered this disc but I need it!!!

One of those albums that will put a smile on your face.

And if it doesn't, well, you might need to get an attitude check. Earth, Wind, and Fire take the rock/jazz combination popularized by "Chicago" and adds two new elements: danceable beats and a lot of soul. The big band (which always had around 8-10 members) produced many hit songs in the 70's and early 80's. This greatest hits album adds most of the greatest work by this awesome band.

The album is kicked off by "Shining Star", probably the song that they are most known for. The song has the perfect amount of everything: rock, jazz, soul, and dance. The album includes hit after hit after that. "Got to Get You Into My Life" is a cover of the popular Beatles song, and is very well done. Earth Wind and Fire like the pop sensibilities that the Beatles had in their music early on, and have a lot of that sunshine, happy feel and melody to their music. "September" is the popular dance hit from the 70's, while "Sing a Song" will turn your gray skies sunny with it's happy beat and easy to sing refrain. The band can downplay the beat a little bit with the slower and more mellow "Can't Hide Love". The two biggest dance hits, "Boogie Wonderland" and "Let's Groove" of course are included as well.

The talent, soul, musicanship, and blending of many different styles make this an album of wonderful music. It's also proof that the insufferable 70's did produce some music outside of the Bee Gees and the Village People. Pick this album up today and feel the smile on your face widen.

Some of Music's Greats Hits

As a kid born years after they were topping charts its awsome to discover them.

1 problem is "Love's Holiday" isn't on the CD. Thats 1 of my favorites.
