Description: This packed double-disc is the slim option for fans who find the Eagles' vaunted greatest hits sets too little and the boxed set too hefty. Hit singles large and medium are here, often ("One of These Nights," "Hotel California") still sounding definitive and even tough. Large helpings of favorite album cuts are also included, along with a taster from a promised 2004 Eagles studio reunion. Unfortunately, "Hole in the World," Don Henley's response to September 11, feels just as empty and entitled as "Get Over It," the band's previous state-of-the-union message (from which the newer song represents a philosophical 180-degree turn). But for those seeking an overview of this Southern California juggernaut's successes, as well as telling comments from band members--mostly Henley and Frey--in a well-designed booklet,
Very Best will more than do.

Reviews:
Great compilation of great music
If there was one band who could successfully mix rock with country, it was the Eagles. Throughout their 30 year career in music, they have made some of the greatest and most memorable rock songs. From "Hotel California" to "Tequila Sunrise" each song is great. If you're an old fan of the Eagles or just a beginner, this is a must-have in your collection. Easily a 5-star album! I would have preferred songs such as "Life's Been Good" or "Dirty Laundry" (Don Healy) in place of either "James Dean" or "Doolin-Dalton" but overall it's a great compilation.

One Of The Greatest Best Of's Ever
The Eagles have been around for 30 some - odd years, and throughout that time, have never lost their touch in creating a great song. Inf act, as the two disc "Very Best Of The Eagles" proves, their old songs have never gone out of style (even with William Hung's cover of "Hotel California"). All of them sound as fresh and vibrant as they did in 1975.
One this compilation, you will get all the Eagles classics: "Take It Easy", "Witchy Woman", "Desparado", "The Best Of My Love", "Lyin' Eyes", "One Of These Nights", "Hotel California", "Heartache Tonight" and "The Long Run" (not to mention my all time favorite "I Can't Tell You Why"). Also, you'll get lesser known tracks such as "Peaceful Easy Feeling", "Tequilia Sunrise" (my favorite of the bunch), "Already Gone", the haunting "The Last Resort" and "Get Over It", plus the new recording "Hole In The World". (Another treat is the inclusion of their holdiay cover of "I'll Be Home For Christmas", which I put on my own Christmas mix tape).
Overall, this is the best Eagles compilation available. Everyone should definitely pick up this album. Here's hoping that the group finally gets around to recording that new studio album they've been promising for about the last three years.
The finest Eagles compilation available.
If you think the two "Greatest Hits" compilations are incomplete, but you don't want to go out and buy all of their albums, grab this. This has 33 songs from their six studio albums, a track from their live album ("Seven Bridges Road"), two tracks from their Hell Freezes Over album ("Love Will Keep Us Alive" and "Get Over It") and a new song, "Hole In The World". My one minor complaint is that "Hotel California" is stuck on the first disc, and really doesn't belong there. But that's it; their very best is here, and that's what's important.
