Reviews:

Divine Dido does it again...

While this single has merely three tracks and a video, it is well worth the money. The 'Life For Rent' remix is divinely soothing, and becomes deeper in emotion and power thanks to the added strings and effects. The real gem of this single however is the 'Stoned' Spiritchaser mix. It's similar to the original, with strong chords, but the new techno beat adds extra spice and flavor. The video at the end of the cd is a treat, as always. This single is a must have for all Dido fans alike.

Don't rent this- buy it!

Dido's second single from the album, "Life for Rent", was an immediate favourite of mine after just the first listen of the album so I was very pleased to discover it would be released as a single!

The vocals are faultless, the music is tranquil and the lyrics are just amazing! It's a winning formula for a superb piece of music. It's such a soothing track and really emphasises Dido's unique voice. You simply cannot compare her to any other artist.

The remix of "Life For Rent" surprisingly works. I'm never too certain of ballads transformed into remixes but this is one that does actually succeed. Listen out for the two and a half minute mark for an awesome variation in the song. The vocals are manipulated in such a way that reinforces the unique sound of Dido.

The final track is unfortunately not a new track. It's a remix of the album track, "Stoned". I was never a big fan of this song in the first place and the remix does nothing to sway me on this one! It takes far too long for vocal introduction and I just think that fans would have appreciated a non album track instead. Surely there were numerous tracks that didn't make the album that were still worthy of being released as a b-side on a single.

There is also a CD ROM on the single which features the single's video. Unfortunately, unlike the song, the video is quite boring! Still with such a beautiful song who needs a memorable video?!

IF I DON'T LEARN TO BUY....

This is one of DIDO'S best tunes, totally agree on this, so personal and really related to anyone at my age around the mid-20's, so great and personal, and of course atuobiografical, the musical arrangement as always simple and beautiful, the mix it's ok, the Stoned remix it's a taste of was been goin' around the club this days so if this life is for rent....don't work for it....just kidding!
