Reviews:

Great for fans of traditioinal

I bought this CD set because it had all my favorite Dekker hits. The CD's were definately taken from Vinyl recordings, which actually add to the effect of the CD. The sound is as it was originally heard, Lo-Fi. The first CD is the better of the two with the highlights "King of Ska (1964 version)" "0.0.7. Shanty town" and "Music Like Dirt". The first half of the second CD is excellent and then it gets to Desmond's more recent work. It's more electronic and he lost his back-up singers. It does have the eternal classic "Israelites" and "It Miek" as well as a not-so-popular highlight "Hippopotomus". The booklet had a history that was interesting and informative. Overall the CD Is good if your a big time Dekker fan. Otherwise buy one of the many greatest hits collections.
