Description: Violator is Depeche Mode's most mainstream, chart-climbing album. Although it contains only nine tracks, half of them are tailor-made for the dance floor. This album was conceived when dance-club DJs were gaining recognition alongside original composers. Heavily influenced by techno-pop, the singles "Policy of Truth," "Enjoy the Silence," and "World in My Eyes" prove that DM did their homework. A particular highlight on this fantastic album is the bluesy guitar line Martin Gore lays down on top of the synth-dominated grooves on "Personal Jesus."

Reviews:
the sweetest perfection!!
This is my favorite album of all time. It is not only DM's best but the best of all synth/new wave. This album has such power and emotion behind it. The feeling u have when u listen to it is unexplainable. If everyone on the planet owned a copy of Violator silly as it sounds.. I think the world would be a much calmer place. and if there was such a thing as perfection.. this would be it. I wore the cd out back in 1990 when I lived in Germany where Depeche Mode are gods and I continue to do so. My favorite songs are Halo, World in My Eyes, Policy of Truth.. ok ok so I can't name just one.. LOL the whole thing is a masterpiece!
Best DM album by far...
This is easily in my top 5 for greatest albums ever released. Everything here is perfect, The recording quality is the best, and the songs are brilliant. Much more keyboarding is noticed here, and it has more of a synth/techno-ish sound to it than the other albums. It easily has some of the best lyrics with catchy songs like "Enjoy the silence" "policy of truth" and "sweetest perfection" even "Halo" is great. "Clean" is one of my all time favorite songs by Depeche Mode, maybe even THE best one, even though it isn't their most well known one. Heck all the songs are great. There is much more emotion here too with the songs, with feelings of depression, loneliness, even happiness at times. Overall, a masterpiece that everyone should hear.
Depeche Mode (Violator)
From the psychadelic meandering rhythyms of WORLD IN MY EYES, to the addicted pulse of SWEETEST PERFECTION, on through the sinister synthesizers of PERSONAL JESUS and the mysterious sound of HALO, to the intimacy of WAITING FOR THE NIGHT, throught the perfection of ENJOY THE SILENCE, on to the swinging POLICY OF TRUTH, the awkwardness and sadness of BLUE DRESS, finishing off wwith the benediction of CLEAN, VIOLATOR is easily my favorite album of all time. Depeche Mode and the prdoucers, mixers, and remixers involved in the album are all true masters of their craft. This is the best music I have ever heard. Hearing ENJOY THE SILENCE to touching faith in PERSONAL JESUS are the closest I have heard to musical perfection. Buy this album.
