Reviews:

"Delta Goodrem" A rare diamond from Australia to the world.

Delta Goodrem...not only a pretty look..more than that a nice girl, good actor (to the aussie audience plus) and what a voice!!. You have "charme" quality we can't find in many young talents today. You are been trough much in your short life and that contribute to make you a good girl, great professional and our "aussie sweet heart", don't worry about idiots reviews from people who don't know "our girl". Congratulations and keep writing songs from your heart and surprising us as you did with your debut album "Innocent eyes" the one I like very much (my favorite "Lost without you"). Young, pretty, can act, can sing, australian...what a special and blessed girl you are!!. Congratulations Delta.

Average

This is just an average CD - not meaning that it is bad, but it just passes 3 stars.

Firstly, the 3x platinum lead single BORN TO TRY was very overrated. What is so good about it? The whole song sounds the same - the verse is pretty much the same of the chorus, and it is just too boring to me. 5/10

Next, INNOCENT EYES comes on. It is my favourite track. It was the third single and went platinum. It has a very uplifting and catchy melody. It is about Delta reflecting on her childhood. See - the video clip. 10/10

NOT ME, NOT I is another born to try-like song. It never really goes anywhere. It is better though. The intro is very innocent-eyes like, and a very catchy verse - this could be an extrememly good if it had a better chorus. It is just a bit too boring too me. 7/10

THROW IT AWAY - I don't think the acoustic guitar is really built for Delta. Her vocals areat thier peak here, though this is another song I don't really like. 7/10

LOST WITHOUT YOU is the second single, which went double platinum in Australia. It was the first song of hers which I really liked. But it gets boring after a while, so I have to minus two points. 8/10

PREDICTABLE is the fifth single and it went double platinum. It is the most rockish track on the album and I the fans favourite (I think). It has a very uplifting chorus. 9/10

BUTTERFLLY is a wonderful ballad, but I think if it was acoustic it would be better. It is too synthesised for a 10, but it's just that piano really suites this song. A lot of emotion in this track. 9/10

IN MY OWN TIME was featured on the Born To Try single and is yet another ballad. The lyrics are a bit corny, but that doen't stop it being a very good song. Molto excellento. 8/10

THIS IS NOT ME was a song the below reviewer (that is if I don't get a spotlight review which is very unllikely) only gave 6/10. I think this is a very great track where Delta G. really goes for it. And expresses her emotions in her tone, rather than the production, or the lyrics. 10/10

RUNNING AWAY is good for a while (5/10) and A YEAR AGO TODAY is quite a good ballad which Delta made a video clip for, for some reason. It wasnt even released as a single. 7/10

The next track is so-so (6/10) and the album finishes with a beatiful ballad which I give 9/10.

There4, this album went 14x platinum, so this woman really does have some fans. I recommend Mistaken Identity to fans of this album because they are very similar which

I really do not like (not the album, the concept). Can Delta only write songs with a piano? I think so.... I look forward to her third album release.

innocently brilliant! Delta Goodrem has eyes for success!

I've been a delta goodrem fan and it was this album that made me an immortal fan! for those of you who dont know much about this tall Australia, there is more to this 20-year than meets the eye (the INNOCENT eye, rather). In a little over 8 months, this album went platnium 14 times, and became the second highest selling album in australia's history and contains 5 tracks that went to number one (most of them debuted). For her efforts on the album Delta then went on to win a record-smashing 7 ARIAS (its the australian equivelant to the Grammys). But there's more still. Delta achieved all these milestones while battling cancer, a rare form Hodgkin's Disease. Down, but certainly not out, Delta proved that anything is achievable regardless of the situation.

this brings me to the album itself. it is filled with beautiful, up-beat songs that encourage the listener to simply sing with all her heart. there is a wonderful balance of ballads and pop songs, all of which were either wrote, or co-wrote by delta herself. let's not go any further without making mention of her voice. it's like an angel. there's a tone in her voice that just melts the heart, it is one of the most pure and heavenly voices in the business.

now i'll give a brief track-by-track description of the cd!

1) Born to Try

this was the song that introduced Delta as a singer. It's inspirational and truly uplifting. Delta also reaches a seemingly impossible high note that just makes you yearn for such a brilliant voice. It was Delta's first number one hit! 10/10

2)Innocent Eyes

the covetted track, innocent eyes was the third single to reach number 1. this is definately my favourite off the album. its got beautiful lyrics and melodically is the most original. the piano and vocals co-oridnate perfectly

10/10

3)Not Me No I

this was the first single to be released after the news of Delta's illness. The film clip showed a thinner, paler delta, but also underlined just how determined this girl is to keep going. it is a beautiful ballad with wonderful lyrics and was the fourth single to reach the number one spot.

8/10

4)Throw it Away

this is the most differnt song off the album, as it has a very jazzy rhythm and melody to it. it's my least favourite off the track (hey! you've gotta have one no matter how much you like an album!) but its still a great song to listen to if you're in the mood for an upbeat track!

6/10

5)Lost Without You

The second song to reach number one, Lost Without You is truly beautiful and is my second favourite off the album! Although, delta didnt write this song, it certainly is one of her best. beautiful harmonies, and clever piano work into simple and effective lyrics to create a simply beautiful track to lsiten too.

10/10

6) Predictable

This is the rock song of the album, revealing a never-before-heard feisty delta. its got big sound and excellent piano parts with fun lyrics to belt out. this was the fifth and final single to be released and to reach the number one spot. it was also delta's longest stay in the number one position of the album

10/10

7) Butterfly

i'm sure that if delta had opted for one more track to release it would have definately been this one. this is one of the most beautiful and inspirational songs i have ever heard. absolutely stunning vocals are the main feature in this song along with its unique melody. simply stunning

9/10

8)In My Own Time

Another ballad and a significant part of the song is just with delta and her piano. the melody is uplifting and fantastic!

7/10

9) My Big Mistake

This is a more of a poppy song of Delta's. It's lots of fun and great if you're just in the mood to play with your voice in front of the CD player!

7/10

10) This is Not Me

This is my second least favourite track, only because the melody doesn't really grab me. Delta's vocals are still flawless however.

6/10

11) Running Away

There was something about this simple little song that just made me fall in love with it. It's another poppy song but has a little spice to it. It's SOO much fun to sing and the melody along with cute harmonies are just fantastic! it's definately a favourite of mine. I love it!

10/10

12) A Year Ago Today

A beautiful ballad that delta actually co-wrote a few years before she became famous. it's a bittersweet theme of rememberance and is a beautiful song lyrically to listen to. you mind even have a tear in your eye!

8/10

13) Longer

I haven't really listened to this song as much as i probably should, but its still a great song! the melody is fun and free-spirited and the lyrics are great.

7/10

14) Will You Fall For Me

Delta wrote this beautiful ballad and is a stunning song with gorgeous vocals. It's a very simple song as there's just her and the piano in this one and is a perfect way to finish off the album

7/10

So inconclusion, Delta Goodrem is truly a brilliant singer/songwriter. so much devotion and effort has been put into this record and it really pays off for delta! With a wonderful, balanced mix of jazz, pop, ballads and contempary song, Innocent Eyes is innocently brilliant and point Delta's eyes on the road for success!

A+!

What a melodic voice

I have both Innocent Eyes and Mistaken Identity and I think Innocent Eyes is a much better album, really shows off Delta's dynamic voice. Almost every track is good or at the very least alright. I think anyone who gives this album a good listen can agree that she definitely has alot of talent.

what a waste of money

When i first listen to "Born To Try" my heart told me to buy her CD. I Buy it and at first i found it interesting. But after hear it for a second time, i found that almost all of the song had a same tune and melody. It became boring after you kept listen to it. the only good song in this CD is "Innocent Eyes". I wonder how australian can said that this CD is more good than Kylie "BL".

Why I hate Delta Goodrem

Delta Goodrem. The mere mention of her name gets my eyeballs rolling. I am so sick of her being successful.

When Delta first erupted onto the scene, I thought she was a mediocre talent that was entitled to her 15 minutes of fame. Thanks to extensive media coverage, I now wish that she was dead.

My malevolent feelings towards Delta first emerged at the time she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Excuse me for sounding unsympathetic, but since when is that a major cause for alarm? It is one of the most treatable cancers, with a very high survival rate. It's so minor that the word "cancer" isn't even in the disease's name, so people don't overestimate how dangerous it is. Of course, it's great from Delta's point of view. All she has to do is endure the symptoms - swollen lymph nodes, tiredness, weight loss, night sweats, fever coughing and breathless - which are no worse than those associated with the flu. In return she gets a whole lot of media space about how brave and talented she is. It's all just publicity for her to move more units of Innocent Eyes.

And the contrived goody-two-shoes routine? Puh-lease.

As for her music, it's...well...bland and formulaic. Through over-exposure and the media's obsession with Delta, it has been almost impossible to avoid hearing most of the tracks on Innocent Eyes. Let's just say she makes Celine Dion seem avant garde.

"Australia's sweetheart"? I think I'm gonna puke.
