Change of Styles Complete for Delerium
And so it was that 'Poem' heralded the completion of the change in direction and style for Delerium. Gone were the dark, eerie, sharpe and solid ambient beats that made Delerium what it is today. It was replaced by a softer duller trance rythm that were sung by guest female vocalists. It was Delerium that made Sarah McLachlan famouse in her rendition of the hit Silence (which is a great song whatever variation it is played in).
Innocente, Aria and A Poem for Byzantium would become hits for Delerium and recive some radio time and were remixed and became popular with mainstream music buffs. Most of the other songs are dry and lack the strength of early Delerium songs.
Early Delerium fans may be disappointed with this album as was I alittle. It is a passable album for the songs I mentioned positively. Silence and A Poem For Byzantium were my favourites of this album.
Sophistication lies within Ðelerium
Delerium; a group? whom aren't recognize in Singapore was nothing but a deepest regret. 2 years ago, when i first heard "Silence" Dj Tiesto ft Sarah Mclachlan, i was enthralled by de highly sophisticated lyrics, Sarah's Voice and the ambience of de song. It'd leaped me to a higher decree of Musikz discovery; which eventually leads me to de a voyage of soliciting admist different genre of Musikz'. One of my favourite album'd be Poem. It comprises of Heavenly Delights of Musikz; such as A Poem for byzantium, Nature's Kingdom, Myth and etc..What's Delerium's Objective when they first created Music? it seems fairly well that they're making for de sake of making music. Thus, enrapturing me spiritually. This album's great =]
Ups and Downs...
I personally prefer Semantic Spaces, in comparison to this album.
Poem relies too much on lyrics, and vocalists. As a result, some tracks can become repetitive, and others are just not well formulated. The sound of some vocalists just doesn't fit the mood of the music, and some songs are dragged out, the chorus repeated too many times.
I primarily bought this album for the track "Fallen Icons", which has been a favorite Delerium tune of mine, for years. I'd say there are about 2-3 tracks that I tend to skip over with every listen.
Delerium's music is based on your mood though... it's all a matter of that.
