Classic Bowie at its best!

I was having difficulty choosing between The Pye Singles and another CD. Boy, am I glad I choose The 1966 Pye Singles! These songs are brilliant! A masterpiece of music! To everyone that loves good, wholesome rock these singles are a must!

Get EARLY ON (1964-1966) instead!

Rhino's EARLY ON compilation contains not only all of these songs but eleven other tracks from earlier sessions.

great early recordings

This is indeed classic Bowie material. The songs sound very vintage and you can tell that they're old. All of the songs on here are included on the cd Early On (1964-1966). Early On is pretty hard to find, but I own this. It's kind of a pain with the 3 disks, because if you want to listen to all of the songs, you have to take them in and out of your cd player. Oh well...if you can find Early On, don't buy this. If you can't find Early On, I suggest that you buy this like I did.

Searching for success

This is an interesting snap-shot of Bowie's earlier days, pre-Space Odditty, indeed pre-Laughing Gnome!, where a struggling artist and his various bands at the time were eager for a taste of fame and fortune. The sad fact of the matter is, that none of the tracks are particularly outstanding and understandably, they did not result in David Jones or his colleagues being catapulted into the limelight. However, if, like me, you are a fan of Bowie, then it could be no more than a bit of harmless fun to add this package to your collection.

Incidentally, all the tracks crop up on various compilations which emerge from time to time, so unless you are a completist, it may be best to search around for a more complete compilation.
