Description: Of all the downtrodden intellectuals turning skate-punk into emo, Dashboard Confessional's Christopher Carrabba is by far the most bruised. With just an acoustic guitar and some choice words, the Ben Folds sound-alike turns the concept of the love song on its head with
The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most's torrent of poetic abuse aimed at girls who've taken advantage of his good nature. From "Saints and Sailors" ("This apartment is starving for an argument / Anything at all to break the silence") to "The Good Fight" ("I claimed you as my only hope and watched the floor as you retreated") to "Screaming Infidelities" ("So kiss me hard because this will be the last time I let you"), Carrabba is unapologetically bitter. Yet while his love life may be a tragic mess, the pure cathartic joy he derives from putting the ladies in question back in their place--evident from his venomous acoustic attacks--is unmistakable, infectious, and fantastically liberating. Wallowing in self-pity has seldom been so much fun.

Reviews:
Full of suprising good songs for my situations with girls
This is actually also a review on all DC acoustic albums:
I give it a 4 because like all of DC other records, I only like half the songs in each albums. I end up having to pick out from 3-4 of DC albums to get the songs I like and there are many I like and it's a noteworthy accomplishment for this band. I even picked up his guitar tab books so I can learn how to play acoustic. I say I enjoy the acoustic albums more than the recent rock album titled A Mark A Mission, A Scar. I preferred that DC stays out of the mindless rock mainstream noise and the programmed commercialization of Chris's music. I want more acoustics, not less.
Yeah, I like to see DC live without the fakers and tourists.
This ones for the youngsters
This album is okay if your a youngster i suppose... new thing now in today is emo as many people see. I look at it like this, certain things will be popular at different time peroids. Emo is for the poppy kids who try to find their individuality, but without poppy music like emo how else will they learn about music? Most people dont have friends that actually listen to good music. So take a moment and help them out, if they dont want your help let them listen to their music. And as for this album its good for what it is. Very Deep and emotional of his experiences mainly relationships. Not exactly my taste, but gave the album a listen... this ones definately for the youngsters...
WAY Too Emo
"Your hair, it's everywhere, screaming infidelities..." Remember that lame song? Unfortunately, I do. Chris Carrabba is too whiny. If you think bands like Taking Back Sunday and Thursday are really whiny, you will definitely hate this. Also, this band is way too overrated. I'd suggest you'd listen to some Sunny Day Real Estate or At The Drive-In and such.
