Chaka the jazz singer!

Hearing Chaka sing straight ahead jazz on this project has brought me pure joy for years!! having the lp(which i played to death!)now that it has been reissued on CD, now it gives another generation of fans who missed this when it was first released a chance to hear Ms.Khan in a rare setting!! no this project was not perfect and who's is?? i love the human mistakes, it shows that the musicians and Khan were not out to make a 'perfect'record and the Grammys thought so too by giving this a nomination in the best female jazz catagory! I truly hope in the near future Chaka can continue to sing her favorite music(JAZZ)more!!!

I bought this "album" back when it was orignally released. I was completely blow away by Chaka Khan. Back in the 1980's no one; ok obviously Lenny White did, but other than him who would have expected this type of peformance from Chaka (Yvette). Thanks Rhino for bringing this album to CD. My album is locked up for prosperity. Few of my generation would beleive Chaka had the capabilities she demonstrates on this album. Thanks Lenny White for having the confidence in her and the other accomplished musicians for giving her the opportunity to strut her stuff with such talent.

Finally out on Cd! About 3 years ago I burned my album from 1982(hiss and skips) onto a CD so I could listen to this great album again. I can't believe the review from the guy saying Chaka needed to "reign it in". What an idiot. Go buy a Lawrence Welk's greatests hits album! like the greats on this album (Lenny White, Chick, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Clarke) I was blown away with Chaka's chops. Check it out!
