Reviews:

Cannibal Corpse - 'Vile' (Metal Blade)

The rumors are false, not ALL Cannibal Corpse tunes sound alike.I like this CD better than it's follow-up 'Gallery Of Suicide'(see my review). My only concern is that vocalist George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher may pass out sometimes due to the way he swirls his head around during the band's gigs.Even though thrash is no longer my favorite genre of music,I can STILL get into a good effort, such as 'Vile'.The tracks that require me to take a moment or two to get myself in the mood to thoroughly enjoy are "Mummified In Barb Wire",the in-your-gut "Disfigured" and "Eaten From The Inside".Aimed toward the younger moshers.

Ladies and Gentlemen: MUSIC DOESN'T GET WORSE THAN THIS!!!!

It should first be established that this is not even music PERIOD, this is a ludicrous bedlam of tactless, senseless, depraved, vile, indiscernible, untalented racket that anybody could do by concentrating as much noise as possible together and then adding heinous growling vocals that sounds not much different from a demon gagging and barfing up guts with razors in its throat (even worse than Gollum's episodes).

Cannibal Corpse is the SICKEST, most hideous, gruesome, (everything disgusting you can think about) and in simple terms---downright gross. Anybody that recommends this travesty of music has SERIOUS problems on all echelons of their sanity!

Nobody in their right mind would give this a good rating. In fact. Even if the lyrics weren't so desperately perverted, more enjoyment can come from hearing construction work than this LUNACY. Take my advice, don't listen to anyone giving this 5 stars, because their musical tastes are SERIOUSLY WARPED.

This has another name "the music from hell". It's not even worth checking out. And if you happen to, you'll regret it.

Vile: An Album That Was Created To Kill

This is one of my favorite Cannibal Corse albums in my collection. I brought it on CD sometime in the summer of 1996. Before the release of this album, the band was going through some difficult times. Some of the problems were with their vocals Chris Barnes and his dedication to Six Feet Under which was than a side project instead of Cannibal Corpse being his main priority. So the band kicked him out but before that, he recorded a demo with the band called Created To Kill which had songs that would later become part of the Vile album. After that, the problems were still growing and Barnes was kicked out. So the band got George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher from Monstrosity. I had already heard George in Monstrosity because I had that band's Imperial Doom album and he ripped on there. So I knew that there was no problem with George vocal-killing in Cannibal Corpse. Also, the guys in Canninal knew that they couldn't use Barnes' lyrics that he wrote for Created To Kill as well as the band's old splattering logo because it was done by Barnes. So the band had to change everything. So the band re-wrote the lyrics in a couple of weeks and recorded the album with George which would be Vile. Than, when the album came out, I brought it, took it home and listened to it and it delivered. I couldn't put it down for a week.

Now before my review, I need to bring up something very important. Before Barnes was out of Cannibal Corpse, he recorded a demo with the band called Created To Kill which would become the Vile album. A couple of years after the release of Vile, the Created To Kill demo surfaced on the internet but the content, production and tracklisting were full of error but many people still wanted to hear the demo. So right now, the demo is only available on Disk-3 of the 15 Year Killing Spree boxset which I will review latter on. So to those who want to here the demo, buy the boxset.

Now for my review. With this album, it is a totally new direction for the band. The band members take a chance of writing the lyrics and the music also improves but everything is all-out heaviness and brutality. The production is crued and raw. So what you will hear is basically killer riffs, solos, blast beats, punding bass, hight and low vocals, fast, mid-paced and slow songs, plenty of groove, one intrimental, some technicality, dynamics, musicionship and progression. So you will get bassically all of the elements that make Cannibal Corpse what it is but it's all brutal and heavy and lyrics are still as sick as ever. So no Cannibal Corpse fan will be dissappointed because this is an album that has been created to kill. Let me also not forget that his is the last album with Rob Barrett. So he goes out with a bang here. So all in all, get this album. Some of my favorite songs here are Perverse Suffering, Disfigured, Bloodlands, Eaten From Inside, Orgasm Through Torture and Monolith. Buy this album and get vile.
