Description: One of the few lineups to make the leap from 1980s "hair band" into long-term semi-respectability, Bon Jovi's eighth studio album is somewhat true to the band's pop-metal roots, though
Bounce is ultimately mellower and more theatrical than previous outings. "Undivided" might be a Tom Waits number, all gravelly vocals and booming drums hinting at a dark hipness before kicking into a commercial, lush chorus. Still, it's got a pleasing edginess, as does the toe-tapping, mechanized feel of "Everyday." Jon Bon Jovi's forays into film have clearly influenced
Bounce. "You Had Me from Hello," the title nicked from
Jerry Maguire, is spare, poignant, and gentle, while "The Right Side of Wrong" references
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and has a piano-heavy Springsteen-meets-Billy Joel feel. Typical ballads like "Joey" and "All About Loving You" also populate the album, which often feels like a singer-songwriter outing, or a movie soundtrack, rather than an album by a veteran rock band. Some of
Bounce's bouncier tunes may still appeal to the now-middle-aged fans of the band's "Livin' on a Prayer" era, while the melodrama marking much of the album might lose those who prefer headbanging over Bon Jovi's more mellow and grandiose musical musings.

Reviews:
Bon Jovi at it's best!
The best Bon Jovi album ever. So rock and roll and so hard! Riffs and lyrics are unbelievable. Should get more credit and more promotion. Definitely a positive album and inspirational. The songs tell great stories. I've had the album for 7 months now and I still listen to it constantly. That RARELY happens to any CD I buy, even Bon Jovi. It's the best! Not too crazy about the extra tracks, but the CD is great and worth having! Also don't like having to wait 15 minutes between track 12 and 13.
bon jovi in a wrong direction.
the first two songs of the album are really good but then the album slows down with some slow boring jams ,in other words bon jovi is not like he used to be in 96.
Bounce Bon Jovi
I don't know if it's possible, but they just seem to get better each time. I realise this album was largely inspired by the 9/11 events, what a beautiful tribute to all those affected. Just what the world needs these days, the feeling that life can go on.The fact that we need to all come together, Undivided and Every day are my fav's for that. I'm all for loving you and You had me from hello are my fav love songs, he must truly love his wife, how beautiful. I also love Joey and Right side of wrong because they are so well written, they tell a good story, the latter made me cry. Misunderstood is brilliant, he sings it on the DVD This left feels right, gorgeous. Truly, I love every song, it's Jon doing the singing, but all four boys work together to create the most amazing songs and music I've ever heard. That goes for every album. I can't wait for their next album, they never seem to run out of material. These guys are true artists, and how often do you get a group of guys that are all so incredibly sexy? I love them all, keep it up boys, the world is a beautiful place to be because of you. Your music has gotten me through some bad times, I feel like youv'e saved me, sounds crazy I know. Anyway rock on. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Great mix of tunes
As a long time fan of these guys I was patiently waiting for this album, in the wake of 9/11. I got exactly what I expected. A well written collection of songs that range from heavy rock to deeply acoustic soulful tunes. I think every song on this CD features an acoustic guitar on some level. Overall I think this is an extension of the CRUSH album - a continuation of the evolution of this great band. I'm especially impressed with the writing on this one, well written songs that are not overboard in references to 9/11.
The Year of Bon Jovi, as promised
Who could ask for anything more from Bon Jovi...maybe touring in MY town?
