Reviews:

Billy!

I've always felt that Billy Idol was short-changed by record companies, people, civilization, and the record industry (but not necessarily in that order).

I admit to a certain softness: one of my first CDs was Billy's last major label effort, and I was struck by the sheer digital mastery of Cyberpunk.

I never understood the reaction to Cyberpunk. I adored Cyberpunk, and I always wondered why it struck such a negative chord with the critics.

Given such a predilection, I guess it comes as no secret that I love Charmed Life. Idol is clearly opting for a return to his roots. It's not Mother Dawn but, by gosh, it's Billy Idol.

Is it the digital world's Idol?

No.

Does it rock like Billy Idol?

Oh yeah.

This album rocks me the "Right Way".

Other than "Cradle Of Love", this album doesn't seem to get much mention from anyone, but I love it. In fact, front to back it's my favorite of his. "Loveless" and "Pumping On Steel" are both good rockers, and I really like "Trouble With The Sweet Stuff". He does a good job on The Doors cover too. "Prodigal Blues" and "Endless Sleep" are nice mellow touches also. It's a great mix of the older and newer Billy Idol. And best of all, this is DIRT CHEAP!
