Reviews:
Buy it simply for Track #6
I actually obtained this CD from a friend who knows that I am a huge Aerosmith fan. Overall, it is a neat CD to have for your music collection. But ultimately I recommend purchasing this CD simply for Track #6. The outstanding live version of "One Way Street" is a perfect representation of Aerosmith at is "baddest". The song is a perfect mixture of rock, rhythm, and blues (along with musical solos) that gives the listener the perfect taste of what Aerosmith music is all about.
Is this a Greatest Hits album?
I think this is considered a greatest hits album, but I'm not sure. It kinda seems pointless, because it only has six songs on it. I only bought it because it was $6 bucks at Mammoth Music.
Anyways, I like all of the songs here. Back in the Saddle is a classic, with The Steve's familiar scream at the beginning. Great song. Toys in the Attic is also a fun song to listen to, and is the title track from their breakthrough album. Seasons of Whither is a really good song, and I hadn't heard it before buying this. Walk This Way is arguably their best known song, a classic through and through. Love that riff. I like the version with Run DMC as well, definitely worth checking out. Chip Away the Stone is a song that I'm not too familiar with, but its a very good song. Not one of my faves. And I like the live version of One Way Street. Its another song I'm not familiar with, and I've never heard the original. But its always cool to have a live version.
This album (EP?) isn't really necessary. I guess its a greatest hits album or something, but it doesn't seem like it has a real point. I guess just pick it up if you happen to have a few extra bucks, like I did.
Kinda Pointless to own But Each song is a classic!
Every song here is an Aerosmith classic through and through. If You are an Aerosmith fan you already own every song on here. 'Back In The Saddle' is from Rocks, 'Toys In The Attic' and 'Walk This Way' are both from Toys In The Attic, 'Seasons Of Wither' from Get Your Wings, 'Chip Away The Stone' is from Gems, and 'One Way Street [live]' is from Aerosmith, but wait its live so you dont own it... yet! This is worth buying just for the live version of 'One Way Street' the studio version is amazing but this is even better! The guitar solo is flawles, and I have seen Aerosmith live 4 times, and heard all of their live albums and they have never sounded better then they do here. It was recored live in '94 at the club MaKIN that Steven Tyler used too own. Look its worth it for that one song but you also get all those other great songs aswell. This is only an EP so its probly for Die Hards like myselve only!
