Description: Even before their second fling with the pop mainstream, Aerosmith were one of Top 40's favorite hard-rock bands, so ubiquitous--and so funky--that Run-D.M.C. were vociferous fans. Their '70s output included at least three classic albums (Aerosmith, Toys in the Attic, and Rocks). This disc collects unstoppable singles into a horny, howling little piece of archaeology that makes even weak links like "Kings and Queens" sound great. And the truly great stuff here--"Sweet Emotion," "Last Child," "Dream On"--runs the gamut of style and feeling from swaggering freak-flag-flying to power-ballad roots that display a genuine ache. Your Aerosmith collection shouldn't end here, but this red-and-white bomb is a great place to start. --Rickey Wright

Reviews:

Exceptional Aerosmith Anthology

GREATEST HITS is an exceptional Aerosmith collection. It shows how the band developed from its first album through such hits as "Sweet Emotion" and "Last Child", to the end of their first golden era. The latter phase is, sadly, documented by a sacrilegious version of the Shangri-las' "Remember (Walking In The Sand)", but the rest of the songs show that, even in 1978, the group looked as if it could go on forever.

Greatest Hits : 1973-1980

This is a brilliant compilation spanning the first 7 years of Aerosmith's career. There's only ten tracks, but you could play this CD all the way through with ease. Check it out.

my first classic rock CD!!!!!!!!

Dream On- great song, but a bit overrated 4/5

Same Old Song and Dance- a blast of good blues/rock, sets the scene for what this band will accomplish 5/5

Sweet Emotion- Best Aerosmith song by far, has a classic bassline, and sing-along lyrics 5/5

Walk this Way- a classic, enough said 5/5

Last Child- a great collaberation of R&B and rock 5/5

Back in the Saddle- aninnovative song with one of the best lead-in's in rock history 5/5

Draw the Line- catchy, strong bass playing 4/5

Kings and Queens- good, but a bit week 4/5

Come Together- probably the best remake created, respects the original version (done by the Beatles) while adding it's own spin 5/5

Remember (Walking in the Sand)- during this time, Aerosmith was not in the best shape, and this song illustrates that beautifully 1/5
